The magnificent architectural gem from the Belle Epoque period has stood at Bahnhofstrasse 75 in Zurich since 1912 and has undergone extensive renovations.
Since the media event with a tour of the renovation work in June 2021, the public has known that Zurich’s most famous department store has a new name: “Swiss Life Brannhof”.
Richnerstutz assisted Swiss Life Asset Managers with the design of the new name, which refers to the historic roots and reinterpretation of the building’s use by its owner Swiss Life.
It also clad the north facade of the construction platform that is visible from Pestalozzianlage. The seven-metre-high construction wall was also covered in over 600 m2 of film. The realization proved challenging due to the tram line that runs below the building, with some work only possible at night and during a window of no more than four hours. Altogether, the work took five nights and four days.
The Brannhof implementation clearly illustrates why Richnerstutz is an essential partner in terms of speed, reliability and quality. This ambitious project was planned, realized, installed and effectively unveiled to the media in just three weeks.
