On behalf of Bureau Vie GmbH we were tasked with creating special signage for the dinosaur zone of the new Natural History Museum of the University of Zurich. The staging within the permanent exhibition is intended to be visually distinctive and also blend into the overall design of the museum.
The challenge was to adapt the signage to a variety of construction materials – from concrete pillars and walls to glass display cabinets. Asymmetrical, angled panels made of aluminium sheet were developed for this purpose by product designer René Odermatt. These special formats permitted precise and flexible assembly and are also clear visual accents that support orientation and enhance the exhibition design. The text was added using screen printing and produced by Schriftatelier Dennis Flachsmann GmbH. It was an interesting project that contributes to optimum orientation in the new museum by combining design and functionality.
