A real highlight has been created at Bell Switzerland’s new logistics centre in Oensingen: measuring 59.5 metres in length and 9.2 metres in height, what is probably Switzerland’s largest illuminated sign has been making a striking statement since December, bringing light, colour and character to the façade.
During the day, the lettering appears in a bold red, whilst at night it glows in white light. This effect is achieved using a special day-and-night film, whilst the lighting itself is based on modern LED technology, which, despite the impressive dimensions, is particularly energy-efficient and consumes less electricity than a conventional toaster. The project thus impressively combines visual impact with sustainable technology.
The implementation placed high demands on planning and installation. The frame and base of the lettering were made from aluminium and painted to RAL standards. The front consists of white Plexiglas, onto which red-printed perforated film was applied. The individual segments were precisely assembled by two fitters and mounted piece by piece onto the façade until the complete lettering stretched across the entire length.
The result is not only a technical masterpiece but also a design statement.
The design is by Stauffenegger + Partner AG and combines brand identity with architectural presence. For everyone involved, the project was a special challenge and, at the same time, a great pleasure. We are proud to have been part of this extraordinary project – very much in the spirit of “La vie est Bell”.
