The once-popular ZKB moneybox has been transformed into a giant 3D object with an integrated LED screen – an idea devised and commissioned by JEFF Zürich GmbH and implemented by Richnerstutz.
Its development incorporated many years of expertise and a flawless synergy between the Digital Experience, Construction and Technical Production departments, covering all stages of the process from technical drawings through to the end product.
The moneybox – which is approx. 2.3 metres wide and 2.6 metres tall – is currently positioned in a foyer of the Zurich Cantonal Bank and will be used at numerous events and fairs and in other branches of the bank over the coming months and years.
The integrated screen's display is operated using Play Everywhere software and controlled via an encrypted 4G router separate from the bank's network. If desired, predefined content can be displayed via a smartphone.
To avoid unnecessary sound exposure, the object's sound level is regulated by a sensor. When someone stands in front of the screen, the volume is automatically increased for as long as the person remains within the specified radius.
The ingenious system means that the object can be dismantled into six parts for easier transportation, carried through narrow hallways, and rebuilt without the need for tools. This offers a high level of flexibility in selecting suitable locations.
The optimum use of materials represented a further challenge with regard to product engineering, with Richnerstutz opting to use wood for virtually the entire product. Only the cover was made using lightweight foam in order to minimize weight. The curved screen was integrated into the front using flexible LED modules.
