We were asked to contribute our expertise to a new design for the Happy Day studio. The result is a combination of precise craftsmanship and well-designed technology.
On behalf of SRF, we produced all the lightboxes individually to the customer’s specifications. The incorporated fabric was not printed in order to ensure a neutral interior lighting, while also permitting maximum flexibility of the external effects lighting.
For the elements in concrete look, our team printed and sewed fabric with a realistic surface which SRF then mounted onto wooden frames. The white areas of the studio consist of our customized lightboxes with elegant frameless frames with a groove thickness of just two millimetres.
These elements are modular and – thanks to precision drilling – can be used flexibly, assembled, dismantled or stored as needed, according to SRF’s plans and concept.
The choice of material was particularly challenging: factors such as tone transparency for the panel, material properties, neutral odour and light transmission had to be taken into account. Consequently, a number of materials were provided as samples to SRF in advance and tested for their properties and camera suitability. In this way, we were able to source and use the ideal materials for the relevant purposes.
Three different fabrics were used, with each being produced in an optimum manner for its respective purpose.
The control of the lightboxes’ interior lighting was also our creation. The DMX512-compatible technology allows the light mood and brightness to be regulated directly from the mixer. the colour is produced by the spotlights’ reflected light.
