On behalf of Immobilien Stadt Zürich we were tasked with creating an unusual digital signage project for the reception area of the Emerald building – part of the Museum Rietberg in Zurich. The goal was to visually enhance the entrance and provide visitors with centralized, modern and dynamic up-to-date information about exhibitions in future. Our solution is a large-format, modular, high-resolution megascreen.
The challenge was to develop an aesthetic and high-quality technical system that would integrate harmoniously into the museum’s historic ambience while also meeting the highest demands in terms of information density and image quality.
We used 64 type MR-UTV-1.2 GOB LEDCore modules from Digilux. On a surface of around 13 m2 (9.60 x 1.35 metres) we created a screen with an impressive resolution of 7680 x 1080 pixels – corresponding to four adjacent full-HD screens with a total of over 8 million pixels.
Thanks to glue-on-board (GOB) technology the LED surface is not only high-resolution but also robust and durable – ideal for high-footfall public areas such as a museum entrance. The screen is powered by a Novastar H2 LED control system with fiber-optic transmission and fiber converter boxes.
A Brightsign XC4050 media player is used to show the content and enables HTML5 native web display. Content can be controlled dynamically via a defined website with a 7680 x 1080 pixel format – and an integrated back-up system for optimum downtime protection.
Our Digital Experience, Construction and Technical Production departments produced a customized metal frame to stylishly integrate the megascreen and embed it elegantly on the wall.
The result is impressive, and from now on, visitors will be welcomed with a modern, eye-catching information surface when entering Museum Rietberg.
